Hi I'm new to the forum. I dont know if I am having a problem with my newly installed Easycap capture device, device driver, or Ulead software or if recording from a Directv DVR is just not possible.

The software seemed to install fine on my Dell E1705 notebook with windows vista but when I connected my Philips DTV DVR directly to my Easycap via A/V cables. The Ulead software continually says there is no signal. I just get a gray screen with horizontal lines and also no sound. The show I am trying to record was previously recorded and I had it playing before I hit capture. Also the computer was freshly booted. It is not a movie its just a documentary that was on cable so I doubt it is copy protected.

If this is possible what settings are optimal for recording from DVR hard drive?

Also if there are common problems with capturing with Vista are there workarounds or patches available to fix.
Thanks alot
W

I guess nobody has tried this before. I changed the input settings from tuner to composite and I can now capture. However I am having the same problems with the Ulead software that I had with Pinnacle Studio 12. It is very unstable and crashing. I am having problems with no audio when previewing my captured project and video freezing momentarily throughout capture.
