Alright, first of all, I would like to address the issue of whether or not my product is fake.

I remember reading that both EasyCap and EzCap are fake, and did not know which one to trust, and I ended up purchasing the following:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5707

Is this the "fake" (outdated, rather) one?

I am currently running a Windows 7 Ultimate laptop, and worked vigorously through the night attempting to get this problem fixed.
I manually installed a lot of drivers, and almost got the product working. It came with Ulead software, is that even the right software that is supposed to have come with it?
The strange thing is, my OTHER Windows XP laptop could not even detect the product whatsoever when it was plugged in.

I have just started a video game news website, (www.GamerFill.com) which is heavily based around video game reviews.
I have done many video game previous through the use of video editing trailers, but now I need actual video game footage (primarily through the Xbox 360), and I had read a lot about this product, assuming it would be perfect.

Did I get the wrong one?
If so, can somebody please provide a link to a working product for Windows 7 Ultimate?
I am in the United States, if that makes any difference. I noticed a lot of you are from the UK)

Also, I'm under the impression that this other "EzCap" product, the "real"  one, can record very high-quality (not literally) footage given the right settings. Is this true? I'm not looking for 1080p, but at least 430 or higher. It needs to look crisp and clean; in other words, it needs to be "Video Game News Site" worthy. Because if not I need to start looking elsewhere.

Thanks a million to whoever can help alleviate this problem!

*edit*
And at this rate, would it just be better to get Dazzle instead? I can't really find anywhere that offers "EzCap 116". The best I've found is eBay, and I don't know if I trust where it's coming from.

Sorry to say it, but you have bought a fake. The real ones are "ezcap"

The software that came with yours (ulead 8.0) is ancient and will not run properly on vista never mind windows 7. The proper ezcap DC60+ comes with ulead 10.0

I would do as you are thinking and buy their newest model. ezcap116

A quick look at ebay.com brings up only the real product. The people selling them also offer you a 12 month warranty so you can buy with confidence.

Ah. Well it was only $10 wasted. No wonder they were so cheap.

I'm just worried about the quality now; does it have the potential to be good? Like I said I'm not trying to get full HD, because obviously it's just standard cables; but I've read a lot of places that have said with the right settings it can look almost just as well.

Thank you for your help also!

Is it better at this point to just get this?

Your amazon link didn't work.

Just do a search on you tube to see the kind of quality and if it's good enough for what you need. There are plenty examples on there.

I like this one

Yeah that's not too bad...The only thing that bothered me was the text flashing.

I'm having trouble deciding whether it's better or worse than this though:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/_ufqYEaAP6Q&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/_ufqYEaAP6Q&rel=0</a>
(Skip to about 5:30 and see the gameplay footage. This was from Bioware's actual trailers)
It's a preview I made for Mass Effect 2.

Maybe I'm expecting too much, because comparing the two videos, it seems like the one you've shown me may actually be a little better.

I guess I'm just extremely hesitant because of being ripped off, now I'm not sure what route to go with.

If you buy from any of the vendors on the ebay link above, you will not get ripped off. You will get the full retail product with a 12 month warranty.

This may sound like a strange direction for me to have taken, but I ended up purchasing the rather expensive Hauppauge HD PVR.
Mainly because I'm completely serious about this review site.

But thank you a million times over for helping me out so much! I'm sure the EzCap would have worked out, but I'd rather just have something that can record in straight (actual) HD, and is easy to do. Plus, I can do a lot of other things with it.
