I have an elderly LG VHS player which doesn't have any phono connections, only scart ones. Is it possible to buy a scart/phono connector and if so, does it work?

Yes, it will work fine. What you need is a switchable scart to phono lead.

It comes with a little in/out switch at the scart end. Set it to "out". This means the signal is going from your player to the pc.
