You need to get yourself a set of "mini usb to phono" leads.

You need to be more specific.

Is it an easycap or ezcap?
What model?
What software came with it and what version no?

What type of system are you running? xp/vista etc?

Talk us through exactly what you are doing.

weeal, I have the easy-cap DC60 version 2.1c, and the source shows as, syntek stk1160, software that came with it, Ulead vidiostudio 8.0 se dvd.

computer spec-xp pro,AMD athlon 64x2 dual core processor 3800x 2.0 GHz, 3 gig ram.

I am trying to copy from the tape  in the mvx350i camcorder to the computer via ulead vidiostudio,  using the same settings to copy, that I used to copy from VHS (video  recorder) old films,  I got all the info from this forum before registering.

I went  thought the same sequins as I would to copy VHS tape, but the easycap/software will not recognise the camcorder to copy.( opening up software, going to capture, and turning on camcorder)
I cannot see the film /tape playing on screen.

I have no problems using a 512mb card in camcorder, but only get 20 mins of recording,  I purchased a 4g card to use, but this will not work in there, plus my card reader will not recognise the card either.
I have no problems copying the small mem card straight to computer via card reader.
I hope this make sense, and gives you enough info.

That's strange, so you can copy from vhs ok but not using the camcorder?

Make sure ulead is still set to "composite"

If it is, I would test the leads first. Have you got phono sockets on your tv? Plug the camcorder into that and see if you get a picture.

If you don't it's the leads if you do, do you have phono inputs in your vcr? Plug it into that, get a picture on your tv and then plug the scart to phono back into ulead. Do you get a picture now?

hi bigweeal, I've tried in the front of TV,the back via scart adaptor ,and into are new LCD TV via scart adaptor, with both tape n card and nothing works, could it be the leads!!!!!, I cant see what would be wrong as there are only 3 wires.
I purchsed from here-http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-A-Mini-Male-Connector-to-3x-Phono-Plug-Lead-1-5m_W0QQitemZ130376281453QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL?hash=item1e5b082d6d

I just want to make sure I am getting this right.

You are pressing "play" on the camcorder. You can see the video playing on the small camcorder screen.
You now (while it is playing) insert the leads straight into your tv phono input. (red, white and yellow.)

There is no picture on your tv? (but you still see the picture on your camcorder screen)
If so, have you tried setting to av1/av2 etc on the tv?

Still no picture?
It has to be no signal going from the camcorder to the tv. Just check in case there is some setting you have to do on the camcorder. (I would doubt it though)

If you have done all of the above, i can only think it is the lead. As a last resort, email the seller, tell him the make model of camcorder and you are not getting a pic.

gns,
cancel everything above.

The bad news is the lead you purchased will never work.

The good news is we can get your camcorder to work. You told us you only have 2 outputs on your camcorder. You don't, you have 4. one of them being a dedicated AV output.

I downloaded the brochure and this is what i found (look at Number 3)

All you need to do is buy the right lead this time.  Wink
The other lead will never work because you have a dedicated AV output. If I had known this I could have pointed you in the right direction at the start. Sorry.

purchased lead, and guess what, it doesn't work in the software Angry, so I tried in the front of the portable TV, sound only(yellow & white connection only), and then the back via SCART adaptor red, white and yellow, sound/crackly, removed red lead sound was better, no picture. Angry

As I was typing this,I thought that I should  try  the mem card in, No this still wont work, on removing the RED lead to stop the crackling noise, I some how managed to touched the pin to the outer part of the adaptor, and guess what, I had some sort of
flicking/distorted  picture, and still crackly sound.
I am thinking whether to ditch this camcorder and get my self something new.

No. Please read my last post above again.

Purchase the new lead I put a link to. It needs to be Canon compatible

This lead will work.
