Hi

I am new to Easycap, just purchased one and installed it on my system no problem also installed Ulead software then after reading information on Ulead software I attached Easycap D60 via phono leads and Scart to my VTR, set up Ulead to what I thaught was correct settings also information regarding settings found in these forums was a great help so much so that when I completed my first capture from my VTR it ran with no errors, picture and sound were great in the preview window of Ulead on my PC. Also did a few experiments with adding sound, titles etc again no problem and the finished project file was approx 1hr 10min (4gb) and was very happy. Then burned my project on to a Maxell 4.3gb DVD+R disc, again no problem, took approx 2hrs to burn at Disc speed of 16x
After completion played my new DVD on my PC again no problem picture & sound was great, BUT when I tried to play on my Toshiba V710/720UK player it would not play "disk error" anyone got any ideas how to get over this problem ??  Cry

I have an Easycap D60 Version 2.1c and Ulead "Videostudio SE DVD"

Can anyone help ??

Ulead finalizes the dvd automatically so it can't be that.

Silly question first:
Does your Toshiba player play dvd+r?

If it does, it just does not like the disc you have burned. Have you got another make of dvd+r in the house you can burn a direct copy (off the disc you have just made) to? If not burn a copy using the Maxell and see if it likes this disc.

Hi, Thanks for your responce, Yes Ulead did finalise disk and the Toshiba supports DVD+R. Don' have any other make of DVD+R in my home so I tried your idea, I copied the suspect DVD to burn another new Maxell DVD+R disk, used Nero Vision Essentials (Nero Vision 5) and tried that in the Toshiba DVD player and wow it worked, great picture and superb sound, trying to understand what the difference is between the two disk's a bit confused with that one.
The only problem I find now is the DVD player does not see the title/menu that I created at the start it only comes up with a snapshot of the first frame and at that point I have to press play button twice, as if it was seeing a menu, then the DVD runs, is there a fix for that ??
When I play the DVD on the PC it does see the title/menu and a play button to click on to proceed, so the title/menu seems to be there ok but as I said not seen on the DVD player.
Thanks very much for the help you are giving.

I happens quite a lot. These things are pumped out in the millions. It could be bad dye in the disc or you may find your dvd player just does not like Maxell dvds. I have a player at home that hates any dvd made by Datasafe.

DVD player does not see the title/menu
That's very strange. So you only see the clip in the middle? No title to the right hand side and no large title underneath? but you do see this on the pc?

Have you got another player you can try it on? I think it has to be a setting on your dvd player.

You could try this just to see what happens. Make a 1 minute clip on Ulead. Close it down and open Nero. I have vision 4 but I think the settings will be the same.
Select "make your own dvd video"
select "add video"
Import your clip and then press next until you come to the add a title screen. Add something, burn and see if you can see the title on this one

I totaly understand what you say regarding possible faulty Maxell disk but way before I had Easyap & Ulead had a problem doing backup copies of some of our DVD Films using "Vision 5" and Maxell DVD+R disk's and got the same problem "disk error" on Player, BUT I changed settings on "Vision 5" and every Maxell DVD+R that I copy now seems to work great on the player, for the life of me can't remember what I changed but I know now that "Vision 5" and my player are compatable especialy now when I can burn a Ulead file.

Title/menu
No text seen on player but do see it on PC.

Two players
No don't have another DVD Player.

I will try a 1min clip idea and use Nero to produce a title screen, that should be interseting, I should be back on Tuesday (UK) with result.

Eric

Hi Bigwheeal

Tried your idea, what I did was went to Ulead Studio / Share / Create video file / Selected MPEG2 720x576. Created video file that has Video, Titles and Sound and saved to a folder, closed Ulead then opened Nero Vision 5 selected DVD Video / Add video / selected video file I had created did a preview and Video, Titles and sound were there, then carried on and burned a Maxell DVD+R on completion checked the DVD on the pc, no problem then played it on my DVD Player and yes Video, Sound and Titles were all there and looks great.

THANKS AGAIN for all your help.

As I said I am new to Easycap and Ulead and on a big learning curve and no doubt I will be back looking for more help (hope you don't mind)

Regards,
Eric

Hi All

Since I started using EasyCap D60 and getting over the initial learning curv and with great help from "bigwheeal" I have now transferred 5 VHS tapes on to DVD with titles. effects etc and all have worked great on PC and DVD players.
I created a loose leaf folder with all the settings for Ulead and Nero for future referance (settings I know that work) and it's been invaluable as there has been times when the settings have changed, for some reason.
Have noticed a few times when going into Ulead that color settings are at zero and/or PAL has changed to NTSC and/or no sound.
These settings dont change every time so what I do is check all the settings before I start to capture and there has been times when the settings have been fine, but I check anyway.
Its a bit strange but with all my settings noted down its not a big deal.
If any member require these settings that I have just let me know.
Regards to all, Eric.
