Juddering on finalised DVD

I have succesfully converted 2 long VhS tapes to DVD, but on both of them, when the camera pans quickly across a scene there is an annoying 'judder' effect on the picture (like a bad camera shake). When the camera stops moving, the pic and sound are great. My setup is Easycap DC60 (fake I think? but it works!), Windows XP 32 bit Home, 4 gig memory, plenty of HD space, dual core processor, capturing massive files in AVI mode with Videostudio, converting and burning 140gig AVI file to 4.3gig DVD using DVDFlick.
If anyone can suggest a cure I would be grateful.

a small clarification... have just noticed that the juddering picture only happens when the CAMERA is moving and NOT when the people being filmed are moving? So a lively scene is appearing OK if the camera was still at the time, but if the camera pans across a still scene, that's when the judder appears. I don't know if this helps?

This happens a lot when capruring in AVI. Quite often bits come out in slow motion.
Change the settings from AVI to "dvd" (mpeg2) and capture again. It should be fine.

Thanks for the reply but I already tried that - should have said, sorry - captured as AVI and DVD (MPEG) and both times the finished DVD is the same. Great apart from the judder.

That's strange. Mpeg is usually fine.
Does it judder when you play back the captured file? (before you burn to disc)
If not it must be DVDFlick

Don't think so but will check. I was assuming it would be something to do with the conversion to DVD because it certainly previews smoothly on the laptop whilst being captured. Thanks again
