Hi Bigwheel

You're a God!

The driver finally installed after a couple of attempts. Hurrah! The only problem now is that when trying to capture the film from my digital video camera it states that there is no signal, even though it shows it being captured, but with no sound? When I go in to edit it, sure enough there is no picture but plenty of sound?

Obviously this is nothing to do with the drivers but if you have any thoughts on the prob they would be most welcome.

Did it come with a program called Ulead?

If so, Ulead is not compatible with Windows 7. This is the problem with buying an outdated piece of kit that was not made for the platform you are trying to get it to work on.

There is other software you can try. It is free and good and is compatible with windows 7.

Debut
http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/

When you go to the site, don't click on the links on the right hand side.
There is a download link for non commercial customers in the first paragraph
on the page.

Download and install. (if the program opens, shut it down)
Plug the easycap in
Open Debut
Click on "device" at the top.

Have done as instructed but the message I'm getting from Debut is:- no device of this type is present.

Trouble is I bought it off E-bay but there was nothing about it not being compatible with Window 7 or old software. Should I give up the ghost and send it back?

I think it is time to call it a day. I do not know what else to try.

Sorry Sydney, I have tried my best.

My advice is to buy an EzCAP116. You will not have any hassle with it. Plug it in and away you go. I know they are more expensive, but i hope you can see why. (you get to keep your sanity Grin)

All others are fakes and you can spend forever on them. They are cheap copies.

Yes I sell the EzCAP116 but this is not an advert for me. This is just to show you the quality of the product.

Below is ebay feedback for the EzCAP116

Finally gave up on the easycap as had no end of problems and couldn't get it to function. Have now purchased the EzCAP116 as suggested and have no problems with it at all. Very easy to use, loads of functions and features. Am now able to convert all my old tapes to my laptop and burn them to DVD or memory stick for prosperity. Had a couple of probs saving to disc but with loads of help from the moderator was able to suss that the discs were faulty. Have no probs now. Well impressed with product and service. Highly recommend. Many thanks.
