Is is a counterfeit. All "easycaps" are counterfeits of EzCAP.

There is a fix for your audio. Bypass the USB audio altogether.

Purchase a "3.5mm Stereo Jack to 2 x RCA" adaptor. You can get them for 71p inc delivery on Amazon
http://www.amazon.co.uk/WE11130-Adaptor-3-5mm-stereo-sockets/dp/B000L9C3GY/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1271193386&sr=8-5

Take the 2 audio outs from your games console/vhs player and insert into the adaptor. Insert the adaptor into the "line In" input at the back of your pc on the sound card.

Make sure you change the sound input on your capture software from "usb audo" to "line in"

Thank's for that,

Only one problem, I've only got a laptop that doesn't have line in other than the MIC.  I'm capturing from a old Mono Sanyo 8mm video camcorder pre-firewire,usb ect.

Will an authentic EzCap sort the audio problem or am I best try another solution like a usb sound card that allows the Mic to be supported for line in ?.

According to Microsoft, as it is a laptop, it will only have "mic in" but this will also behave as "line in"

Ok, I must be doing something wrong I've followed the instructions in the link and I'm still unable to get moviemaker to reconise EasyCap
device.

And neither Ulead or Total Media are capturing audio from the MIC as "line in" I can select the mic but the device/software isn't lettting it in as line in and no matter how I mess around with level's/disable microphone boost I cant get audio capture that doesn't sound like a bag of cat's in a catnip field !.

Vista Home Premium  SP2, laptop is a HP 6735s, camcorder Sanyo VM-RZ1P   http://uk.sanyo.com/support/Instruction-Manuals/

Last Time I wanted to capture this footage I borrowed my Uncles Hi 8 Sony that played the tapes and I captured via fire wire, I've also had success borrowing my sister JVC DV camera capturing to it from the Sanyothen using USB streaming to capture with no problems with Audio in either cases.

If a proper Ez/Easycap unit will work with no audio issues then I'll just buy one, which is easier said than domne when thier are so many counterfeits knocking around.

I realy apreciate your help, youve been more than generouse with your time.

I'm not 100% convinced it is the easycap. It may be down to the generic soundcard on your motherboard.

If you have a friend with a pc you can try it on, it would be a good idea to see if the sound remains the same.

If you cannot, I sell the real EzCAP116 which is the newest model. If you like, you can purchase from myself and if it gives the same sound results it is your laptop. You can send it back to myself for a full refund (minus the £3.50 postage)

You can purchase on the link below.

Yours is a counterfeit of the original DC60. This has an older Philips chip in it. It is not capable of recording in colour at 60hz. (new xbox 360 & Ps3 games)
