Ok i recently purchased a easy cap i think it is the new 1. Well anyway i installed it and all that. I then put 3 of my cables from my Xbox 360 i think it is a green red and blue cables, they show the video the game on the screen but just without sound which is bareable. So then i directly linked the Red Yellow and White cables to the easy cap. Then it doesn't give me a picture it gives me the sound though. I just shows black screen or sometimes shows a fuzzy grey. Does anybody understand this. I only want it to use on my xbox 360. I would be extremely grateful for help as i need to get it up and running
Thanks

Ahoy there!

I have been having almost exactly the same issues as you (Well, not exactly, as I freeload my games, but still) - The main problem you're having is that Xbox360 (and almost all games these days, especially on Wii,PS3,Xbox360) display normally at 60Hz - this the frequency which most consoles project at (and anything from US or Japan broadcasts at this frequency).

I'm not sure why, but alot (almost all) of USB capture devices, unless they specifically say DC60+, or unless they support what is called NTSC 4.33, you will not be able to record your games in 60hz.

Please see http://forum.easycap.co.uk/index.php?topic=42.0    or my ongoing thread  http://forum.easycap.co.uk/index.php?topic=43.0   or http://forum.easycap.co.uk/index.php?topic=24.0

All three links above suggest this, and the only way you can get your Easycap to display in this (if it doesn't support the NTSC 4.33/60Hz modem) is to change your Xbox's display settings to 50Hz. I have a huge amount of issues getting this working, and though I have yet to receive my DC60+ easycap yet, I have faith that I have this issue sorted. Most cheaper easycaps (especially the Easycap 108, which I and many others have...because it's cheap) have this issue.

Please also see http://forum.videohelp.com/topic361694.html  - which has more info

The actual item you need is something like this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=110340801969

Or

I do hope it helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Kind Regards,

Woo it works, i changed the xbox to pal 50 and that works for alot of games like saints row 2. But when i want to play Call of Duty WAW i have to change it to pal 60 then i use NSC or whnatever its called. This only comes out in black and white but its bareable maybe i can get it colour in future but it will do for now.
Thanks

Hi!

I'm glad it helped.

Unfortunately, the main issue is that some games cannot be displayed in 50hz (such as all of my imported Japanese games for my Wii.....), so I'm not that surprised to hear some games can work,m and some games can't. I would strongly suggest checking with where you bought the Easycap, and seeing (maybe even asking them as well, if it's possible) if this was the DC60+ version, or the regular DC60 version which I'm sure most of us actually bought (since the DC60+ version is rare, and doesn't normally get posted, even on Ebay).

The main setting you'd need when capturing is the NTSC 4.33 setting, which almost all capture devices lack (as I've said above...I seriously have no idea why this setting is omitted, unless it's very expensive to make...which I doubt). Anyway, I'm glad atleast some of your games work properly when capturing with 50hz mode. It's the same with my Gamecube, and any PAL game. they work perfectly in 50Hz, since Easycap captured at that frequency by default.

Anyway, I'm making a sticky, so don't worry too much. I'll explain as much as I possibly can in it. Also, I have heard some rumours that the Xbox360 cable (the RCA red-white-yellow cable) which comes with the console doesn't actually support running at 50hz, though I know from what I've been able to see the NTSC 4.33 setting with only the DC60+ easycap has will fix this without an issue.

Let me know if you have any further issues.

Kind Regards,
Fenberry
