Hello,

Complete noob here....

After much looking around it appears that the DC60+ or the EZCap116 are what i need...i've got a PC and a laptop i'd want to use it on which are running Windows 7 32Bit and Windows 7 64Bit...

The main device i want to use it with would be my Xbox360.

Both machines are powerful so shouldn't be any issues with performance requirements but just wondering if anyone had tested these on Windows 7 and found what software is best to use for this...

I've seen the ClimaxDigital version on Amazon for £18.99 in the UK, is this an official one? Don't want to end up buying a knock off that doesn't support what i want.

Thanks

Hi there! I'm sorry I haven't posted for a while - I've been through an eviction from my house, and no internet and phone connection due to an issue with Telecom - leaving me without any money or a house - Thankfully my old employer here in New Zealand has helped me get back on my feet, and I'm staying with a friend to try and save up enough to get going again.

I'm glad to be able to come back here, and help if possible.

I'm not 100% sure with windows 7, since the Easycap DC60+ (which I use) allows both Xp and Vista to work - Apart from trawling through forums for Windows 7 and asked around, I'm afraid that I'm stumped as to if this will work on W7 - I'd imagine that it should, since most Video capturing programs like Debut, AmCAP, Ulead etc would also likely work as well, and the drivers should cover windows 7 for the EasycapDC60+, but I'm not sure of any definite answer.  Hopefully someone who comes here may have information for Windows 7, and I might eventually get another laptop with it on it, in which case I'd thoroughly test out installation and possible issues with compatibility and then report them here -

Hopefully you'll find the answer you need without taking a gamble (which I did...sadly, for the Easycap DC60)

Hey guys!

I want to capture from my Xbox. I want to play in good quality so I have been researching and people seem to be using composite cable with it switched to standard TV as a pose to HDTV, plugging in the comp cables to the tele and the yellow vid to the EasyCap. I have tried this myself and the video signal does come through both the connections but the picture quality is the same (576i or something). I have heard that it should come through the component cables as 420p/720p ext but mine won't. when I try changing the res it does switch to 420p/720P which ever I pick but once I confirm it then goes back to the standard TV pic. Any ideas how other people have managed to get there's to display in high res and mine won't?!?!?

Thanks

Well, when it comes to capturing in High Definition up to 1080p, the EasycapDC60+ can do this - it's just that you'd need to have a fairly good computer to record well, lots of space for the amount of data per recording session, and your best bet is to try and find a way to use the S-video part of the DC60+ (if that's what you have).

You're right, Composite cables (the Red White Yellow ones we all know and love), can only do up to 420p, with Component cables (the Red Green Blue Red and White ones) capable of getting up to at least 720p from knowledge, maybe higher. The thing is that all of the Easycap's that I've come across only have space for Composite (R W Y) and s-video inputs into the device. S-video should be capable of getting up to 1080p, with the sound coming in from the standard Red and white composite inputs with an Xbox (or any other console really) s-video cable. Good luck!

First of all thanks fenberry for all your efforts making this informative thread and the guys participated in this.
I read all the posts on this topic and searched for one alike question (actualy found it wasn't answered) but couldn't find the answer. The thing is I wanna play my Gamecube only on my Laptop screen (completely independent of TV). And I don't wanna record video the important thing is that I can play.
1- Is this possible with easycap? (I want to buy DC60+ one after I read all this, I don't wanna have NTSC/PAL game problems.)
2- Will I get much lag even though I won't record video?
(Intel Centrino 1.6 GHz, 712 MB DDR, 64 MB Intel on board GPU. Yeah I know my computer specs sucks but I just got this one Sad )
3- Can I get the audio from Laptop speakers and wlll it be enough plugging the red-white audio jacks into EasyCap. I read something about you need to plug audio inputs into Line in in some EasyCap models. I hope the one I'll buy won't be one of those cause I don't have Line in, I only have Mic and speaker outs.

Thanks in advance.

PS: I am considering buying this one (it is said to be DC60++ I don't know whether it is fake or not) Do you think it is good deal?

My pleasure - I'm happy to help where I can  Grin

Ah yes - I play gamecube, Wii and PS2 on my laptop as a TV all the time Smiley It's actually fairly straight forward.

As long as you've got a reasonable computer (and yours is about the same as mine), it should fine to get a DC60+ and then use a program like Debut (which is freeware) or ulead 10 (which comes with the DC60+) to be able to view the footage on a full screen as if it was a TV.

1. Yes it is -
2. You shouldn't - watching AND recording at the same time will give at least some sound lag, even if the video keeps up. You might experience the tiniest of lag's while just watching, but you shouldn't have much of a issue, and is a good substitute TV of sorts.
3. On Ulead 10, you are able to have sound coming out of the inbuilt speakers of a laptop if you plug both red white into your EasycapDC60+ inputs, and adjust a certain setting - I'm assuming there are similar settings in other video capturing software which allows playback.

The other option if you can't get this to work, is to use some external speakers and one of these combinations:

Either

2 Female RCA to 1 Male 3.5 Stereo jack

Or (what I have)

a 2 female to 1 female RCA jack + a male RCA to female 2.5 stereo jack

You'd need to run the Red+White cables from the game console to the 2 female inputs, then plug the only other output into external speakers or headphones etc

Hope it helps - and no, it needs to be an Easycap DC60+ you can pick them up from ebay or amazon I think.

Can someone help me please? When i try and record it always records in black and white... does this have something to do with an option on the software or a hardware problem? Thanks, Litsas23.

I just got a Easycap Clone (i had to buy a clone in the country i live in) that is recognized by my laptop as "SMI Grabber". There is NTSC.4.33 configuration is available but i have lots of glitches when i try to get some previews on VLC, Debut or AMCAP. However i managed to have some visual some times Cheesy
The problem is i hate to have to deal with the device's bugs that it pretends like a crazy woman Smiley Everything depends on my Easycap's mood Cheesy And if i get some visual, there is some little lag and i would prefer the colors would look better.
I'll now try the proper drivers that were mentioned on the first page, then reinstalling my Easycap.
Is there anything i need to know apart from NTSC-4.33? To increase frame rate and get better picture quality?
Thanks in advance.

Is there a model number written on the Easycap?

If it has the NTSC 4.33, then it's likely that you have got a DC60+, but you never really know.

Also, another thing to question please, have you tried Debut/Ulead Studio to record?

It is recommended to have a look on the first page and check through with the drivers for the device, as well as the model number to be perfectly sure you've got the right model. Have a check with debut, since you should be able to get a clear colour picture by playing around with the settings - Ulead works great as well, as long as you enable the advanced functions...

Have a try and see how it goes

Also, VERY MERRY XMAS TO ALL!!
