I must admit that finding information and help regarding EasyCap capture cards is very hard but the beginning post of this thread has at last ended my long labourious search and I thank you fenberry for all the help you've given to me and other people.

Hey Fenberry,
Well, I bought an EasyCap from eBay that the shop assured me was DC60+ but it turns out to just be DC60! I'm going to return it.
But just wondering, I tried out the DC60 and the picture is very interlaced. Lots of lines and not aligned on the screen properly. This is in Windows with AM Cap.
Does the DC60+ fix this? The Deinterlace option is greyed out. I know you can deinterlace after you record, but I'm talking about the preview. I just want to play games, not record them.
Not sure now if I should go for one of these or a VGA or XGA game box.
Cheers mate.

Okay so I'm not such a 'whizz' with computers and all that stuff so I'll get to the basics of my problems. I have bought the version of EasyCap you showed a picture of on the first post (like the very first picture, yea thats what i bought) I managed to connect everything up...somehow... so no problems there Had some troubles installing the Ulead thing, but i have other video creating/editing software so I can capture and edit videos with this. Last but not least, and fairly obviously, the problem lies in recording PAL60 (PAL50 works fine so im sure its not any connection/software problems). It's probably the type of EasyCap device I bought, is this right? Could you possibly point me in the right direction of what to do now? Thanks, Gregzy

I'm so sorry for taking so long to reply... I've had over 170 new emails to deal with almost every day due to my youtube channel... Sounds like you're on the right track Gregzy... The very first picture is a DC60 - which is great and records well... however, it does not have the drivers or compatibility to be able to record 60Hz...as several have pointed out the 'chipset', which is the actual physical microchip inside the device can support 60Hz...no driver or software exist to actually use it...why? I'm not sure we'll ever know... Sadly and most unfortunately, my good sir, the Easycap DC60 is the most common and cheapest version...and which cause many buyers to regret their purchase... you will need to find a new device in order to record 60Hz - the all-illusive DC60+ - The seller I mentioned in my original post should still sell them... What you're looking for is something like this - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/EASYCAP-DC60-v3-1B-VIDEO-CAPTURE-APPLE-MAC-XP-Vista_W0QQitemZ220407892242QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Components?hash=item220407892242&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A1|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50 It's a shame, since ALOT of people have DC60's...and not many people even sell DC60+'s.... Bestest of luck!!

I'm happy to join to that Fenberry's thread that I have just found out that he bought his EasyCap DC60+ from my Ebay shop in last Januari. I'm still selling these devices, but these EasyCap DC60+ are ending soon, because genuine EasyCap and EzCAP factory, ForwardVideo Ltd, doesn't produce anymore with brand EasyCap. My wholesaler have only some hundreds EasyCap DC60+ v3.1B left in stock in Shenzhen and I think these are sold over quite soon and after that all EasyCaps on the market are fakes. Welcome to my new eShop - I can sell there always 5-15% cheaper than in my Ebay shop. Think twice from where You buy Your Easycap/EzCAP - there is many copymakers in China for EasyCaps and the cheapest one is always more likely also fake one. Fake product can look like an original, but quality is in most case very bad and it can be go broken easily. Besides that the components inside the main unit can be totally different and the quality of the video and audio is much worse than in genuine device. At this moment Fenberry seems to be very busy man and I decide to help him a little bit by answering to some questions here. Last question was that:"i have a EasyCap DC 60. Is there a way to record on PAL60?" Answer: It is not possible, because DC60 have Philips chipset and these Syntek drivers STK1150 and STK1160 doesn't support PAL60 or NTSC-433. So You must buy EasyCap DC60+ v3.1B or EzCAP116, which have Empia 2861 chipset and full support to PAL60 and NTSC-433. Philips SAA7113H chipset have also 60Hz feature, but there is not any drivers that can take this feature in use with that basic EasyCap. Kind regards, EasycapExpertti and also jarmot2007 http://www.youtube.com/user/EasycapExperttihttp://easycapexpertti.mybisi.com/http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=jarmot2007&ftab=AllFeedback&sspagename=VIP:feedback

OK guys be gentle.
Firstly my dabble into trying to capture my 360 has been nothing short of a bloody nightmare.
First spent a long 9 hour day with a dazzle, only to find this very post telling me I had wasted my time as it will not capture 60htz.
Anyway luckily I had the very thing ordered and on its way, the easycap 60+.
So right up to now, and I'm so close I can taste it, lol.
I have superb picture, my problems I have right now are... I cant get sound to work, its choppy and or just very poor.
This leads me onto my 2nd problem, i want someone to tell me whats the best software to use, and the reasons I need to know are because of these problems I have.
Amcap, for some reason, has let me do one capture, (awsome just no sound), and then it throws up an error, I think has to do with the fact its asking me to register it for £18, I thought it was free.
Anyway my 2nd software problem, I read on here, great success, with windows movimaker, now I'm using windows 7, and for some reason there is absolutely no capture option in my movie maker options.
Other software I have tried...
studio 9, no picture, Ulead that came with the device, just decides to work sometimes and not others, and jesus if I have to go into settings and choose ntsc again on there as it will not lock your choice I will go mad, lol.
So guys, I am close, my problems that I so desperately need help with are.....
Sound, why is it choppy, how do I get it to work.
software, I need some working best quality one.
Thanks in advance for any help I hope I get.

well guys, just an update from my post above,
I now can get all video and sound working, a quick win xp resintall solved that problem, guess windows 7 just aint ready for all this capture stuff yet.
Anyway, I have a few tech problems, non moreso than the horrible interlacing problems, like in the viddeo above, sony vegas pro to solve it isnt an option obviously.
Also what is best format, for say getting around 10 minutes footage, for size and quality.
So really any big tips on tidying up, Also I'm still after a definitive software to use,, and any that record in widescreen??
So guys just a few tidy up tips if you can.

Ahoy there! Just wanted to let you know I do still frequent this board - though not as much as I used to. I've now moved onto my Vista 32bit laptop (2.1GHz Processor), and have been using Ulead 10 to great effect - the thing is, though it's a nice piece of software, apart from Windows Movie Maker (which worked perfectly on xp for me), there isn't much in the way of programs which vista can handle well. Ulead isn't too bad, the size is rather big though (about an hour of footage is close to 5Gig atleast) - so I've been using an external harddrive in order to get the best quality out of it - Most of my 10 min videos are roughly 150-180mb, which is with about 9500 bits/s for the framerate, quality pushed up to the max, with deinterlacing checked as an option. Load up whatever you need to record in Ulead, try going into the full movie maker area, instead of the capture section - there's more flexibility there. Change the settings (and I'll make some screen caps tonight if you want of how I record with DVD quality using Ulead 10). Until the freeware license ran out, I was happily Pinnacle Videospin (free version) in order to encode and edit stuff. This is likely to be a good resource for video editors, though I recommend Windows Movie Maker all the way for xp. By far the easiest and most effective way to capture and edit video. http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-video-editor.htmand this one points out both movie maker and my new beast Avid FreeDV, which is rather good http://www.desktop-video-guide.com/top-5-free-video-editing-software-review.htmlThese I have edited and encoded with Videospin http://www.youtube.com/v/_fJ5h2d7niE&rel=0http://www.youtube.com/v/RPryip6XpYI&rel=0http://www.youtube.com/v/MqZerDNqtcM&rel=0 ----> PS3 using the S-video section of the Easycap DC60+ Awesome For capturing, generally, I'd suggest either movie maker or Ulead, since once you set it (at least for that session anyway) it seems to be to most stable, covering both sound and video very well, with lots of available tweaks - again, I'll see what I can muster tonight for screen shots of what I do and how I do it http://download.cnet.com/windows/video-capture-software/

appreciate the message and reply.
Just to come back on one thing you didnt address quite clearly enough, for me anyway, lol
You say your 10 min video's are coming out at 150 meg.... any chance of breaking that down in simple terms of , like, what you use to prepare and edit, and most important file format.
thanks again.

Sorry for the delay - have been messing around with Pinnacle Studio 12, which is the only program I can use on Vista at the moment to encode... Also, forgive me for not expanding my answer as I normally do, I was pressed for time previously Roughly - I recorded my videos with Ulead 10 Here are my settings - Sorry for the months of delay - Had far too many things to do...
