Bought myself one of these so that I could transfer my VHS to DVD.

This is the one I purchased - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400150647685&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

I set it up as per the instructions (Drivers & Ulead)

My VCR does not have phono outputs and only a Scart Output. Therefore I purchased a SCART to Phono lead - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280419634599&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT   and connected it to the EasyCap device.

Problem is that I cannot get any video or audio to display on the Ulead software. I fiddled with all the settings as per the start of this forum, but nothing has helped.

Can anyone help?

You need a "switchable" scart to phono lead. Set the switch to "out". This forces the signal the correct way. (From your player to the pc)

£1.77 inc delivery

I've had as much as I can take of this useless piece of crap!!!!

I bought myself all manner of leads and video editing software and none of them have made my EasyCap work.

I bought 2 Scart to phone leads with the INPUT/OUTPUT switch. It is set on OUTPUT and makes no difference

I then thought that maybe the driver on the supplied disc was not Vista compatible. I searched the internet and managed to find the Vista driver and guess what? Yes that's right, IT STILL DON'T WORK!!!!!!

All I have is a black screen on the video editors (Ulead & NCH Golden Videos Software)

Is there anything else I can try?Huh?

Ok I've sorted it (sort of)

The switch on the Scart lead was labelled the wrong way. I have to have it set to INPUT. Huh?Huh??

Anyway, I got picture but no sound while previewing. I have it if I record and play back but no sound while previewing. Can you help?

I have to have it set to INPUT. Huh?
heheh, that's the Chinese for you.

In ulead, when you are on the capture screen, click the options cog and select "input source"
When the box opens, put a tick in the "preview audio with usb device"

Have you tried it with the NCH software as well? if not its worth a shot.

There are loads of posts here that have the same problem. If NCH is the same, for 61pence you can save your sanity.

The quick fix is to bypass the usb audio altogether and purchase a "3.5mm Stereo Jack to 2 x RCA" adaptor. You can get them for 61p inc delivery on Amazon

http://www.amazon.co.uk/WE11130-Adaptor-3-5mm-stereo-sockets/dp/B000L9C3GY/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1271193386&sr=8-5

Take the 2 audio outs from your vhs player and insert into the adaptor. Insert the adaptor into the "line In" input at the back of your pc on the sound card. This leaves just the yellow video lead going from the games console/vhs player into the ezcap.

Change the audio settings in Ulead from "usb audio device" to "line in"

I purchased the software called "VideoShow Expressions" from WorldStart for $16.95 and I have transferred 30+ tapes to DVDs using their software. I used the EZCap device and used the 3.5mm or 1/8" adaptor into the PINK Microphone jack in front of the computer.

The clarity is astonishing and the sound is really good. The software says "Quick DVD" but that is totally wrong. If your movie is two hours long, it takes 4 hours to complete the process, BUT the final product is really awesome!
When the program finishes the burning, it will print a cover sheet for the DVD case.
