Have recently purchased easycap and have had no problems other than the sound, trying to record from VHS input the sound is recorded, but has all the qualities of a demented robot. OS is Vista, sound is Conexant high def.smart Audio 221. Have tried all combinations of settings to no avail, anyone out there with any advice, or is it a duff unit.  Sad

Hi

Hmm i havn't tried vista with the easycap, make sure the audio input is set to the easycap device not the sound card, also try another USB port and  make sure no other applications are running in the background which ay interfere.

Thanks for the input, I have ,prior and subsequently, tried just about every combination of sound configuration. The output from the VHS player is mono although I can't believe that would make a difference. Swapping usb inputs has no effect. Such a shame as the video input and record is first class, I'm beginning to think I have a duff unit.

Many thanks for for the input but I have solved the problem completely. Go into device manager click on sound video and game controllers and right click the shown USB audio device, right click and select update the drivers, let windows do the searching and 'USB EMP AUDIO DEVICE' drivers will be installed. Easycap now works as advertised. I  was very close to trashing it.

Hi, I have been a member since 2ndOct.
I hope someone can help!
I have just installed easycap. I have sorted out the capture and sound thanks to this forum.
The problem I have at the moment is that when I capture a Film from VCR to easycap after 32Min's of capture a message comes up out of space on hard drive. The film is 52Min's long. the 32 Min's takes up 40gigs of space. The question is can I compress this file as not to run out of space.

you could use

ffdshow codec or Xvid codec for the compression
